A few of my favorite trails in Maine and North Carolina.

Maine

1. Capstone, Orland Maine

Orland, Maine – Capstone may be the best trail in Maine. With the addition of East Capstone in 2023, Great Pond Mountain preserve may be our best kept secret.

2. MillBilly, Millinocket Maine

Millinocket, Maine – It may be a green trail, but it rides more like a blue flow trail. Professionally built, superbly fun. Nice place to stop and view Katahdin on the way up, plus wood fired pizza on trail system at Hammond Ridge make this worth the drive. Didn’t realize until looking at Trailforks recently, but there seem to be amazing blue trails higher up Hammond Ridge. Next time.

3. Nordic Half Pipe, Augusta, Maine

Augusta, Maine – Bond Brook Preserve has some okay trails but for 1,000 feet of blissful fun, don’t miss the Nordic Half Pipe.

North Carolina

1. Call Farm Loop, Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Wilksboro, North Carolina – Pretty sweet green flow trail loop. Be sure to do Perkins Place Loop (blue), too.

2. Middle Earth, Rocky Knob Park, Boone, North Carolina

Boone, North Carolina – Sweet little MTB Park with fun blue trails (and black jump lines) and paved pump track.
